We have some big news about Ngā Tohu Matihiko.
For three years running, we have brought our hapori together to celebrate the leaders, creators, and disruptors shaping the future of digital and tech in Aotearoa and across the world. The calibre of nominees reminded us each year just how much talent, innovation, and inspiration exists within our community. We are incredibly proud of what Ngā Tohu Matihiko has become, and of every person who has been part of it – whether as a nominee, recipient, sponsor, or supporter.
Given its success and its place as an established event, we will now hold it every two years. This will give us the time to develop our kaupapa, leadership programmes, and other activations across the motu that are difficult to deliver while hosting the awards. The awards have been a wonderful way to meet amazing Māori tech talent but we found we wanted to know more about them.
So this year, we are creating the pae for that to happen. We are excited to announce the first Indigenous Innovation Summit, coming in October 2026, likely in Tāmaki Makaurau. There has never been an event like this created by us, for us and we cannot wait.
We are thinking keynote speakers, panels, an expo space for pakihi Māori to showcase their mahi, workshops, honest kōrero about the big questions our community needs to tackle together, and a dedicated rangatahi activation space led by our rangatahi leaders. We also want to welcome our wider Indigenous whānau, including from Hawaiʻi and beyond.
The programme will run across two days. We are still confirming the venue, which will lock in the exact date. We will share more as soon as we can.
In the meantime, we would love to hear from you. Whether you want to speak, sponsor, volunteer, or just come along, all kōrero is welcome. Keep an eye on our socials and Circle community for updates.
There is exciting mahi ahead, and we are so glad you are on this waka with us.
